Diane Terry moved to Bryan, Texas in 2015 from Albuquerque, NM after her husband of 33 years passed away due to a heart condition. While driving down a street near her home one day, her daughter-in-law, Chris Dodson, noticed a sign for the auction of the Dr. T. T. Walton, Jr. estate. Although she had never been to a live auction before, Chris was intrigued. She and her husband called Diane and invited her to the auction. While previewing the auction Chris was the first one who spotted Owl and said, “How cute is that!” The auctioneer introduced the piece as having been painted by Mink for Dr. Walton who was the grandson of Texas A & M president, Dr. Thomas Otto Walton. When Owl came up for auction, Diane jumped at the chance to take him home.
Trees by a Stream
A few years after he got his degree, Mink traveled to west Texas to study with a master landscape watercolorist. The next two images are from that excursion.
